With only one part-time employee, we rely heavily on the kindness and generosity of volunteers. There are many ways you can put your time and talent to work as a volunteer for Circles® Cowley County.
Become an Ally
An Ally is a financially stable member of our community who has developed a network of friends and contacts. The Allies work one-on-one with what are called Circle Leaders, low-income individuals or families who are working their way out of poverty. You’ll walk side-by-side with these Circle Leaders, supporting them, collaborating with them and advocating for them throughout their journey out of poverty. It requires six to ten hours per month meeting weekly with your Circle Leader and providing support in the form of phone calls, texts or e-mails. While a minimum commitment of 18 months is required, the rewards of the heart and the new friendships formed will last forever.
Prepare and Serve Meals
A nourishing meal is provided free of charge at each Tuesday night meeting. We need individuals, churches, community groups, or businesses to purchase the food, prepare the meal, serve it and clean up afterwards. You can commit to working one night a year, one night a month or every week, and if you are unavailable Tuesday nights, you are welcome to prepare a meal ahead of time.
To know you're making a difference in
someone's life is very powerful.

Provide Child Care and Activities
So that parents can focus their full attention during meetings, free child care is provided. This is more than just babysitting. If you have a group activity that you can provide, such as teaching a new craft or a skill to children, or if you'd like to help with homework, then put your talent to work for a worthy cause. You do not need to commit to every week, just whatever Tuesday night fits into your schedule. Child care volunteers are required to undergo Safe Gatherings training.
Create Marketing and Public Relations Materials
If you can design a brochure or poster, write news releases or newsletters, or are a wiz at social media, you could help us get the word out about our growing organization!
Help with Clerical and Organizational Tasks
Whether it is making copies, organizing a group mailing, distributing a group e-mail or contacting local businesses, organizations or churches to see if they are willing to prepare and serve a weekly meal, we could always use your help.
Ask Us to Speak at Your Next Gathering
To help us spread the word about the good work of Circles® Cowley County, invite us to speak at your next civic meeting or Sunday school class.
